The Music Box

To start a remix, turn up the volume on one or more tracks. For more tips, scroll down (past the player).

How to use the Music Box

The music box is a stem player: the artists, Toma2os, have isolated and extracted tracks from recordings---stems---to allow you to remix. We offer this music box to you, so you can experience the sounds of these three poems in new ways, and to create your own mixes of these tracks.

You can start anywhere: listen to the official mixed beat, to hear how the song sounds overall. Or you can start with a beat (any of the drum tracks), or you could start with other sounds, like rain or waves. You can mix tracks from any of the three songs. (If you're working on a mobile device, you can scroll within the Music Box app to access the full set of songs and tracks.)

To first hear the track you select, use the volume slider—this will make the track audible. Try adding another track on top of the first--do this by using the volume slider for that track. You can speed up or slow down any track—use the arrows on either side of the 1x control. You can keep layering tracks to your heart’s content, adjusting volume and track speed as you go.

The Randomize button randomly selects a set of tracks for you to try remixing---play around with the volume slider to get a balance of sound you like. The Reset button undoes all previous selections.

When you have a remix you like, you can pause, move the playhead at the top back to the beginning, then press Record. Once you have your recording you can click Stop and Save, and you have a remix! We hope you have a blast as a reader and MC.
